In 2023, the Town of Pictou celebrates a convergence of two major anniversaries - the historic 250th anniversary of the landing of the Ship Hector and the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Pictou. Throughout 2023, over 20 community organizations will host events that acknowledge our past and celebrate how far we've come. We welcome you to visit this site often for event updates, and to learn more about the change makers who shaped our community.
From cultural activities to festivals and concerts, the Pictou waterfront and surrounding community is is set to come alive this summer. Our calendar of events is a collaboration between the Town of Pictou, the deCoste Performing Arts Centre, the Hector Heritage Quay, the Ship Hector Descendants Project, the Pictou Lobster Carnival, and almost 20 other community partners.
With funding support from Build Nova Scotia, 27 Creighton Street has been transformed into a vibrant waterfront event site - The Caladh Marquee. Complimenting a 300-seat tent with stage is a Love Local Vendor's Village, play structures, art installations, fire pits, public washrooms and a variety of seating options along the harbour’s edge.
